Shibuya Station, West Exit (near passageway to Inokashira Line)

Passageway to Keio Teito Electric Railway’s Inokashira Line at Shibuya Station’s West Exit on Jan. 8, 1958. People wore sandals and geta wooden clogs and there were many women clad in kimono. There was a lively atmosphere reminiscent of black market vitality shortly after World War II. On the far left are Shibuya Toho, Shibuya Scalaza and Shibuya Bunkaza movie theaters.

Keio Teito’s premises, along with Teito Rapid Transit Authority’s (now Tokyo Metro) ground, were jointly redeveloped to emerge as Shibuya Mark City with two buildings in 2000 (left). On the right in the back is Shibuya 109 building.
